Twilight Courtship Displays of the American Woodcock at the Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS).
Free birding events – ages 18 and over – 8:00 pm-10:00 pm
Wednesdays:  April 4th & April 11th, 2018

The evening display starts about 20 minutes after sunset on clear nights, about 8 minutes earlier on cloudy evenings.
We will walk from parking area approx. a quarter of a mile on a gravel road, listening for the “peent” call.  Soon the fluttering in circles above will be heard and the male will zig-zag back to the ground.  These sky dances are best seen and heard when winds are low and the moon is bright.  Bring your strongest flashlight and lawn chair if you’d like.

Meeting location:  AHATS, Hamline Readiness Center Parking Lot (North End near Hamline Gate) 4761 Hamline Avenue North, Arden Hills, MN
