Maplewood Nature Center
2659 East Seventh Street,
Maplewood, MN 55119
May usually brings a good variety of warblers to sites like this.
This wooded land bordering shallow water deep within this metro area is prized by migrants and residents alike. This is an opportunity to walk the trails and see the sights and hear the sounds of spring. This SPAS-sponsored walk is also listed on the 2019 Urban birding Festival schedule.
On Century Avenue, about half way between I-94 and MN 36, look for the ‘Nature Center’ sign where you turn west onto East 7th St. Watch only the street signs on the west side of Century, since this street is the border between two counties, so the street names are different.
Meet in the parking lot at Maplewood Nature Center. No facilities until the building opens at 8 AM.
Bring binoculars, field guide, and water; consider insect repellent.
Easy, mainly on woodchip covered trails.
