A Story about Whooping Cranes

Looking forward to our next meeting!
We will be treated to a first-hand, up-close and personal look at the effort to restore one of the world’s most endangered birds, the Whooping Crane, to the Upper Midwest. John Christian is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services’ Assistant Regional Director for Migratory Birds and State Programs at Fort Snelling. John will speak about his experiences leading the team of scientists to restore this species at Wisconsin’s Necedah National Wildlife Refuge and how Operation Migration is using ultra-light aircraft to lead these young cranes to their wintering grounds in Florida. It’s an almost unbelievable story and a restoration project unlike any other! Come and learn—you won’t be disappointed!
