Pavilion Garden Restoration
Volunteers from the Saint Paul Audubon Society work in the Como Park Pavilion Garden.
With a grant from St. Paul Audubon Society, Audubon volunteers are helping restore a large public space in Como Park to its former status as a native plant garden. Volunteers remove all non-native plants and then hold periodic work days to plant native plants, aided by a local landscape designer’s donated plan.
St. Paul Audubon Society members meet each month to maintain the garden by raking, weeding, watering and applying mulch. These work days provide many opportunities to talk with area residents about the importance of native plants. Work continues this spring, summer and fall and we’d welcome more hands.
